The Convert X PVR PX-TV100U (who thinks up these
names?) is marketed toward more casual PC users who just want a simple
way to watch and record TV shows on their desktop machine or
laptop. You can certainly call it a PVR product, but I think
adding the HTPC moniker is a stretch at best--and as stated earlier,
it's not intended for that group of users.
Points
which we are curious to have a look at today are the portability and
simplicity offered by the high speed USB 2.0 connectability, and the
option to record directly to the much smaller file size offered by
DivX. We are also eager to see what impact on system overhead the
software encoding in both MPEG and DivX will have. Last, what
is SageTV lite going to be like? We will answer all these
questions and a few more.
