The Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar Flightstick and Throttle is the main
subject of this review, as well as a "medium-depth" look into the
software that makes this such a powerful system. I say
"medium-depth" because after only a week with the unit, I've just
barely scratched the surface of its capabilities. We'll get
down a little deeper than the "broad overview", though, so don't worry
on that score.
The system as reviewed consists of a flightstick,
separate throttle control, and the software that comes with it. A
rudder pedal add-on is also available, but I did not have it for this
review. Is it a must? Well, that just depends on how
dextrous your fingers are since you won't be lacking for alternate
methods of rudder-brake control. As you'll see, the flightstick and
throttle are jam-packed with tactile hotspots (buttons to you and me)
that allow you to custom design your game interface with an amazing
level of flexibility.
